Why houseplant leaves turn yellow
Several yellow leaves at once usually mean the roots are staying wet. Feel the soil before you move the plant or add fertilizer. One old leaf at the bottom yellowing on its own is often just that leaf aging out.
Start with the pot, not a product. If the mix is still damp days after you watered, the roots are not getting air, and leaves yellow. A pot without a drainage hole, or a saucer left full, does the same thing. If the mix is bone-dry and the leaves are yellow and crisp, the plant is more likely thirsty than drowned. A sudden move from a dim room into harsh sun can bleach leaves too, but wet soil is the usual indoor cause. Change one thing, then wait. Yellow tissue does not turn green again; watch the next new leaf.
