Is Sureno built on Chrome?
It is built on Chromium — the open-source engine underneath Chrome and Edge. Pages render with the same Blink and V8 that Chrome uses, in the same sandbox, with the same site isolation. Sureno is an independent browser from sureno.ai. It is not a Chrome extension, a Chrome theme, or a modified copy of Chrome.
Do I lose my bookmarks and passwords if I switch?
No. The first-run import copies your bookmarks, history and open tabs across. Your old browser keeps everything exactly as it was, which means you can run both for a week and decide with the evidence in front of you.
What does the assistant do with the page I am reading?
Nothing, until you ask it something. There is no background summarising and no page text uploaded while you browse. When you do ask, Sureno shows you which parts of the page it is about to include, and you can turn any of them off. See the privacy page for the specifics.
Does it work with my Chrome extensions?
Not yet. Extension support is the largest item on the roadmap and is honestly not there today. If your day depends on a password manager extension, keep Chrome installed alongside — that is the reason the import copies rather than moves.
What does it cost?
Sureno is free. There is no account to create, no trial that expires, and no paid tier holding the browser back. If that ever changes, it will change on the roadmap first, not in an update you did not read.
How do I uninstall it?
Drag it from Applications to the Trash. Nothing is left behind on the system, no background service keeps running, and nothing was written to your other browsers. It takes under a minute, and knowing that up front is the point.
Which platforms is Sureno available on?
macOS 12 or later on Apple silicon, today. Intel Macs, Windows and Linux are on the roadmap, and there is no mobile app.
Why does macOS warn me when I open it?
Because the build is not yet notarised by Apple. Right-click the app and choose Open the first time. That warning exists for good reason — only install Sureno from a link on sureno.ai, and check the checksum on the security page when one is published.
Can I change the search engine?
Yes, in Settings. Google is the default because it is what most people expect from the omnibox.
Is my data synced anywhere?
No. Everything is on your Mac. Sync does not exist yet, which is a genuine downside as well as a privacy property.
Do you use my browsing to train anything?
No. We do not receive your browsing, so there is nothing to train on. Questions you send to a third-party model provider are subject to that provider's terms — which is one reason the local model option exists.
Is Sureno open source?
The engine underneath is: Chromium and Electron. The Sureno application itself is not published today. If it becomes so, it will appear on the roadmap first.
How do I set it as my default browser?
System Settings → Desktop & Dock → Default web browser. Sureno also offers once on first launch, and does not ask again if you decline.
What happens to my tabs if it crashes?
They come back on the next launch, along with any projects, which is the main thing projects are for.
Try it for a week alongside Chrome
The import copies your bookmarks and passwords rather than moving them, so Chrome stays exactly as you left it. If Sureno is not for you, uninstalling takes under a minute.
