Questions and answers

Why is 50% markup not a 50% margin?

A thing that costs 40 and sells for 60 has 20 of profit. That is a 50% markup on the cost, and a 33% margin on the price.

What is the difference between margin and markup?

Margin is profit as a share of the selling price; markup is profit as a share of the cost.

Does it include tax?

No. Work out tax separately with the Sales tax calculator.
