  1. About This MacSystem Settings…App Store

    Step 1: Open System Settings

    Click the Apple menu in the top-left corner, then System Settings.

    Click General in the sidebar, then Software Update on the right.

    Step 3: Click the update button

    If an update is available, click the button to update or restart, and type the password you use to log in to your Mac. Keep it awake and the lid open until it is done.

Good to know: If it says your Mac is up to date, nothing needs doing. During the update the screen may go blank or restart several times.
