Descale a coffee maker
Mineral build-up makes coffee slow and bitter. Running a descaling solution or white vinegar through the machine clears it.
Tools you need
- Descaling solution, or white vinegar and water
- Fresh water

Steps
Check your coffee maker's manual first: some makers say to use only their descaler.
Empty the basket and the pot.
Fill the water tank with descaling solution as the bottle says, or with half white vinegar and half water.
Run a brew cycle without coffee. Halfway through, you can pause it for 30 minutes to let it soak.
Finish the cycle and pour the liquid away.
Run two or three full cycles of plain water to rinse out the taste.
