Questions and answers
Is this as good as an eye test at an optician?
No. It checks only how small you can read at one distance. An eye exam also checks the health of your eyes, which a screen cannot do.
What does 20/20 (6/6) mean?
At 20 feet (6 metres) you read what a person with typical good sight reads at that distance. 20/40 means you need to be at 20 feet to read what others read at 40.
Why do I need a bank card?
Every screen is a different size, so the card lets the page work out how big a centimetre is on your screen. Only the width matters.
What line do I need to drive?
Many places ask for about 20/40 (6/12) with both eyes, with glasses if you wear them. Rules differ, so check your licensing office and see an optician.
