What did Kiefer Sutherland confirm about Young Guns 3?

Sutherland has confirmed that he has discussed a third Young Guns movie with Emilio Estevez. The news came during a panel with Lou Diamond Phillips at FanX Salt Lake, as reported by Collider. ¹

He praised the script and said the film would involve Phillips, Estevez and a new cast. That is an encouraging update, but it is not the same as a confirmed production schedule or a finished movie. ¹

Why is Young Guns 3 in the news now?

The headlines reflect Sutherland’s recent comments about a long-discussed sequel. The Young Guns films tell stories involving Billy the Kid and the Regulators, and Sutherland played Doc Scurlock. ¹

One complication is that Doc appears to be shot many times in Young Guns II. Sutherland described a conversation with Estevez about whether the character could have survived, but the report does not establish how the story would explain his return. ¹

Who might be in the new Young Guns movie?

Sutherland named Phillips and Estevez alongside a new cast when describing the script. Phillips also suggested Christian Slater, who appeared in Young Guns II as Arkansas Dave Rudabaugh, was expected to return. ¹

That wording should be treated as a reported possibility, not a complete official cast list. The source does not provide confirmed roles for the new cast or say that every named actor has signed on. ¹

Has Young Guns 3 started filming or got a release date?

The available report gives no filming start, release date, distributor or studio announcement. It says Sutherland confirmed discussions and spoke positively about the script, but does not establish that the movie is in production. ¹

For ordinary viewers, the practical takeaway is that this is a promising development, not a date to put on the calendar. Details could change, and further official announcements would be needed to clarify the project’s status.

What else is Kiefer Sutherland known for?

Sutherland is best known for playing Jack Bauer in Fox’s 24, for which he received a Primetime Emmy Award and a Golden Globe Award, according to the supplied biographical source. ⁴

MovieWeb describes 24 as a series in which each season’s case spans one day, with the episode timeline moving forward roughly an hour at a time. ² His work in that action series helps explain why audiences may also be interested in news about a Western action franchise.
