Sebastian Stan’s Dark Fantasy Movie Is Officially #3 In The World Ahead Of Avengers: Doomsday

The Covenant climbs worldwide

The Covenant, released in 2006, has reached the No. 3 spot among movies on HBO Max worldwide. Its ranking is notable for viewers in the United States, where the film is not available on the platform.

Directed by Renny Harlin, the dark fantasy follows four young men from families with supernatural abilities at an elite New England prep school. Stan plays Chase Collins, a new student whose arrival unsettles the group and reveals his deeper connection to their supernatural world.

An early fantasy role

The film gave Stan a chance to work in fantasy nearly two decades before his planned return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Avengers: Doomsday. Its supernatural mythology was an early example of the genre work that would become part of his varied career.

Stan later played Jefferson, also known as the Mad Hatter, in the first two seasons of Once Upon a Time. His Marvel debut came in 2011, when he appeared as Bucky Barnes in Captain America: The First Avenger.

Stan’s Marvel future

Stan’s portrayal of Bucky has continued across several movies and a Disney+ series. Avengers: Doomsday is scheduled to open on December 18, with Stan listed as Bucky Barnes in an ensemble that includes Anthony Mackie, Chris Hemsworth, Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans and Pedro Pascal.

Stan has also been linked to speculation about The Batman - Part II, but a possible DC role remains unconfirmed. His next confirmed superhero appearance is in Avengers: Doomsday.
