Deadspin: Brewers Players Bring Gold Gloves Into Championship Season Spotlight

Milwaukee earns two honors
Brice Turang and Jackson Chourio were among the players honored when Major League Baseball announced its 2026 Gold Glove winners on Sunday night. Both play for the World Series champion Milwaukee Brewers.
Turang, the team’s second baseman, added a second Gold Glove to his career record after winning one in 2024. Chourio, a left fielder, was a first-time recipient.
Teams with multiple winners
The Arizona Diamondbacks and Boston Red Sox each had three players selected, the highest totals among teams. Boston third baseman Caleb Durbin won in his first season with the club.
Red Sox teammates Ceddanne Rafaela and Wilyer Abreu also received awards, extending their respective streaks to two and three seasons. They became the third pair of outfield teammates to win Gold Gloves in consecutive seasons.
Arizona’s winners were catcher Gabriel Moreno, shortstop Geraldo Perdomo and right fielder Corbin Carroll. Moreno has won twice, while Perdomo and Carroll each earned their first award.
Other notable achievements
Mets pitcher Nolan McLean became the first rookie pitcher to receive a Gold Glove. Braves utility player Mauricio Dubon won for the third time in the category, which began in 2022; two of his awards came with Houston.
Atlanta first baseman Matt Olson and Houston first baseman Christian Walker each claimed a fourth career Gold Glove. Walker’s previous wins with Arizona came from 2022 through 2024.
Chicago Cubs center fielder Pete Crow-Armstrong received his second straight award. He was also identified as the favorite for the National League Most Valuable Player Award.
How voting is decided
Managers and coaches vote within their own league for every position except utility, and they cannot select players from their own teams. Their ballots account for 75 percent of the results, while the SABR Defensive Index supplies the remaining 25 percent.
For utility awards, Rawlings and the Society for American Baseball Research use a separate defensive formula. The awards recognize the top defensive player at each position in each league.
