New Xbox gaming mode shortcuts: Windows 11 tries broader search with filters, phone actions and richer results
Xbox mode gets quick controls
The latest Windows 11 Insider build adds quick settings for Xbox mode. Users can adjust Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and power options without leaving gaming mode.
Search adds filters and actions
Windows search can now filter results by files, actions or web results. The search box can also be used to change screen brightness and volume. For a connected phone, users can perform actions including making calls. Search results may show when a file was last modified and who authored it, as well as charts for stock prices and weather forecasts. Inline thumbs-up and thumbs-down icons let users give feedback on search results, helping Windows improve search over time.
Insider builds available now
Microsoft’s Beta Build 26220.9836 and Experimental Build 26340.9843 are both available to Windows Insiders. The full list of changes is in Microsoft’s blog post.
