Three former luxury real estate brothers sentenced to 30 years in prison in sex trafficking ring

Three decades in prison
Federal Judge Valerie E. Caproni imposed the sentences on Tuesday in a crowded courtroom. The brothers had sought 15 years each after their convictions, while prosecutors asked for life imprisonment. Caproni said she regarded a life sentence as “draconian.” The brothers have denied wrongdoing.
Trial verdict and convictions
A Manhattan jury found all three brothers guilty on every count, with its verdict read on March 9. None of the brothers testified at the federal trial, where 11 women gave evidence.
Alon and Tal were also convicted of sex trafficking a minor. Alon and Oren were found guilty of aggravated sexual abuse involving force or an intoxicant, as well as sexual abuse of a physically incapacitated person. Prosecutors presented a video showing Oren Alexander raping an incapacitated 17-year-old girl in 2009.
Victims addressed the court
Eleven victims spoke at the sentencing hearing for nearly 90 minutes. A 12th person expected to address the court asked prosecutors to read her statement instead.
