At Iowa rally, Trump presented with made-up 'Man of the Century Award' amid prize confusion

Mitchell creates an award

At a rally in Sioux City, Iowa, Republican congressional candidate Joe Mitchell presented President Donald Trump with a “Man of the Century Award.” Mitchell said he had come up with the accolade himself. Mitchell praised Trump for keeping the country safe and said it was a disgrace that Trump had not received the Nobel Peace Prize. He also thanked Trump for supporting Iowa and called him the greatest president the country had ever had.

Trump accepts the certificate

Trump accepted the framed certificate, shook Mitchell’s hand and handed it to an aide nearby. Trump then recalled last year’s award recipient, Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Corina Machado. He said she had told him that he deserved the Nobel Prize more than anyone because he had settled wars.

Prize complaints continue

Trump said he had not received the Nobel Prize or the Pulitzer Prize, adding that he should have received the Pulitzer for writing. He later referred to a “wonderful peace prize” and asked whether anyone knew its name. Trump then said the Pulitzer Prize had gone to a young woman he thought was 80 years old; Trump is also 80.
