Movies to watch this weekend: Michael in theaters, rent Tow, stream Apex on Netflix

Michael reaches theaters

Michael, the biopic of Michael Jackson, is now in theaters. Jaafar Jackson plays the singer, and the film’s musical sequences are a strong point. The movie does not address the well-known child molestation allegations. Instead, it shows Jackson’s interest in exotic pets, Disney and visits to sick children; the review says the story ends before he faces significant adversity.

Tow is available to rent

Tow, starring Rose Byrne, is available to rent or buy at home. The weekend guide presents it as one of the options for viewers who would rather watch from home.

Apex, starring Charlize Theron and Taron Egerton, is also available on streaming services. Marty Supreme, starring Timothée Chalamet, has arrived on HBO Max.

More films arrive Friday

Desert Warrior follows Princess Hind, played by Aiysha Hart, as she flees into the desert rather than become a concubine to Emperor Kisra, played by Sir Ben Kingsley. The film also stars Mackie as a bandit who helps her.

Over Your Dead Body stars Jason Segel and Samara Weaving as a couple who head to a remote cabin with plans to kill each other. The guide describes the action comedy as unusually violent and short on laughs.
