Manifest’s Cult Sci-Fi Series, Cancelled by NBC, Officially Returns With Netflix Spin-Off Filming in 2027

Manifest’s unusual flight mystery

NBC launched Manifest in 2018. Its story follows passengers on a flight from Jamaica to New York who experience severe turbulence and land to learn that more than five years have passed since their plane departed.

Melissa Roxburgh and Josh Dallas lead the cast. The series built a loyal audience over three seasons, centering on the fate of Montego Air Flight 828.

From cancellation to Netflix revival

NBC ended Manifest in June 2021, saying the show no longer fit the network’s ratings model. Netflix then picked up the series, which rose up the streaming charts. Netflix has since moved to expand the story with a spin-off titled Arrivals: A New Manifest Mystery.

Production set for Vancouver

The spin-off was announced as greenlit in late August 2026. Jeff Rake, creator of Manifest, is returning as executive producer, co-creator and co-showrunner, alongside original-series veterans Margaret Easley and Laura Putney. According to production listings reported by What’s On Netflix, filming is planned for Vancouver, British Columbia, from January 19 to June 9, 2027.
