Inside the cases the Supreme Court will take up this term

The Supreme Court is beginning a new term with cases touching on gun regulation, voting and religious schools, according to ABC News.

Among the disputes the court will decide is whether states may prohibit semi-automatic firearms such as the AR-15. It will also consider whether voters can be denied federal ballots if they do not provide proof of citizenship on state registration forms.

Another case concerns whether religious schools that discriminate against LGBTQ+ families can be excluded from taxpayer-funded programs. The justices may also take up challenges involving Ten Commandments displays in public schools, abortion pills mailed across state lines and regulation of prediction markets.

The term begins as the country approaches midterm elections. ABC News also reported that the court faces potential appeals from President Donald Trump and possible legal disputes over the 2026 election results.
