Gemini Call for Me might tell your mom you’re running late

Google may be preparing to extend Gemini’s automated calling feature from business use to personal calls, according to Android Authority.

The outlet found an introductory screen in an Android app package showing examples such as calling a parent to say someone will be late or asking a friend about dinner.

The examples suggest the feature would handle short, practical messages rather than full conversations. It could help reach people who prefer calls, overlook texts or use landlines.

Android Authority also found what appear to be controls for granting Gemini access to specific app functions, including calling. Such options could let users manage which actions Gemini can perform.

Neither the expanded calling feature nor the app permission controls are confirmed for public release. Google may decide not to roll them out.

Key points

  • Android Authority spotted signs of Gemini calling personal contacts in an app package.
  • Examples point to brief, practical messages rather than extended conversations.
  • Google has not confirmed whether the feature or related permission controls will launch.
