Where it comes from

Grace comes from Latin gratia, favor, thanks, or pleasure, from gratus, pleasing or thankful. English took it through French. It can mean an unearned kindness, a way of moving, a short prayer before a meal, or the thanks inside grateful. The senses share the idea of something freely given and pleasing.
