Grizzlies defense finds no match for Mitchell, Gilgeous-Alexander in blowout Thunder loss

Thunder guards lead the way
Oklahoma City's three guards combined for 84 points in the win. Mitchell led with a career-best 35, making 14 of 20 shots; Gilgeous-Alexander scored 28, and McCain added 21.
The trio's scoring threats made it difficult for Memphis to defend, particularly when Gilgeous-Alexander drew attention and the other guards found chances on or off the ball. The Thunder built a substantial lead early in the second quarter and maintained it.
Shooting and turnovers hurt Memphis
Memphis shot 32 percent overall and 22 percent from three-point range. Oklahoma City made 55 percent of its shots and 46 percent of its threes, creating a wide gap in efficiency.
The Grizzlies committed 18 turnovers, compared with 13 for the Thunder, and conceded 30 points off those mistakes. Some turnovers came from strong defensive plays, while others involved poor passes or loose ball handling.
Effort remains a concern
Memphis found open looks but missed many of them, and at times settled for three-point attempts. The Thunder's defense also contributed to the poor shooting night. The Grizzlies collected 13 offensive rebounds to Oklahoma City's five, providing one positive in a difficult performance. Coach Tuomas Iisalo has said he expects the team to win the effort and energy battle, but the Thunder outworked Memphis in this game.
