China’s Spy Agency Recruited Woman Who Targeted Jensen Huang, Report Says

Recruitment Allegation
The New York Times reported that China’s Ministry of State Security enlisted Megaspeed executive Alice Huang to gather information from Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang. The report says the agency sought intelligence about American AI chips.
It also says the agency may have hoped to influence Nvidia to make its most advanced chips available to China. Megaspeed is an Nvidia customer, and Alice Huang has ties to senior figures in the AI chip industry, including leaders at Gigabyte, according to the Times.
Earlier Spy Plot Report
Last week, the Times reported that Jensen Huang was a target of a suspected Chinese spy plot and described his relationship with Alice Huang. The claim that China’s intelligence agency had recruited her was new in the subsequent report. The Times characterized their relationship as close and said the two are not related.
Briefing Requested
President Trump, who is friendly with Jensen Huang, was briefed about the relationship last year, but took no action, according to the report. Three House committees asked Jensen Huang to attend a joint, closed-door briefing about his interactions with Alice Huang.
