Spider Names 1 Marvel Superhero He Absolutely Can't Stand, Despite Their Shared Threats

A rocky Avengers partnership
The new Avengers roster includes Spider-Man, Captain Marvel, Wolverine, Daredevil, Luke Cage and David Colton, who is also known as Miracleman. The team formed after the events of Avengers: Armageddon.
Spider-Man’s dislike of Colton becomes clear when he finds him destroying military weapons at Stark Tower. The argument turns physical, and Mayor Luke Cage steps in. Peter describes Colton as a former Captain America and a global super-powered pariah. He also blames him for the destruction tied to the Red Hulk and for the deaths caused when Thunderbolt Ross exploded in Russia.
Public distrust raises the stakes
Spider-Man sees Colton’s actions as a reason people have grown fearful of superheroes. The events of Avengers: Armageddon have left public trust unusually low, following Ross’s attempt to impose global democracy and Colton’s move to send nearly all the world’s nuclear weapons into the sun.
That leaves Peter and Colton at odds within a team that must face new dangers. Spider-Man does not welcome Colton in New York City, but the two will need to cooperate.
Threats beyond the team
The Avengers are set to confront Mephisto, whose position as ruler of Hell was taken by Doctor Doom in the Captain America series. Doom voided Mephisto’s earlier contracts, prompting the demon and his forces to come to Earth to reverse the changes.
S.H.I.E.L.D. is also targeting superheroes after the United Nations agreed to fund the agency to enforce a ban on superpowers. All U.N. member states supported the agreement except the United States.
Nick Fury Sr. has resurfaced, and Bucky Barnes has been resurrected. They are joining forces against the S.H.I.E.L.D. effort, a conflict set to be explored in the Immortal Soldiers one-shot.
