Dolly Parton estate moves to dismiss lawsuit against nephew, leaving claims open

Estate seeks voluntary dismissal

She's Alive LLC, which oversees Parton’s professional assets, filed a notice Thursday in Tennessee state court seeking voluntary dismissal of its lawsuit against Seaver and Squadron Augmented Protection Services. The filing says the dismissal is without prejudice, allowing the estate to potentially bring the claims again. The request followed a court response filed by Seaver and his company three days earlier.

Seaver contests allegations

In an 18-page response filed Monday, Seaver denied threatening or intimidating people associated with the estate. He also rejected the description of his conduct as an escalating campaign of intimidation, arguing that private messages cited in the lawsuit were taken out of context.

Earlier court actions

In September, Parton’s estate received a temporary restraining order against Seaver and his company. A judge found a “present and continuing disruption and threat” to She's Alive. In an Oct. 5 court filing the following month, the estate alleged that Seaver had tried to avoid being served with the lawsuit. It described a no-trespassing sign and barbed wire at his residence.
