Zelda Ocarina of Time Remake: Find the Sword and Shield in Kokiri Forest

The forest’s requirement
When Link tries to leave Kokiri Forest, a resident stops him and says he must have a sword and shield before continuing. Finding both takes about 10 minutes, and the sword is the easier item to obtain because it costs nothing.
The remake changes some item placements compared with earlier versions, so familiar routes may feel different to longtime players. Getting the sword first also provides a chance to collect Rupees for the shield.
Find the Kokiri Sword
Go up the long staircase beside Link’s house and speak with the training area NPC. After teaching Link moves such as side-stepping and backflipping, the NPC directs him to search behind the arena.
Crouch into the small alcove and wait for the boulder to pass. Follow it through the area, using the A button to dash across the gap, then turn right and climb the ladder.
Run left around the clearing, jump with X onto the platform, and open the chest to collect the Kokiri Sword. Blue Rupees are scattered around the rolling-rock area.
Buy the shield
The shield is sold at the general store in Kokiri Forest for 40 Rupees. Because the sword route includes free Rupees, completing it before shopping can save time.
The forest also offers other ways to gather money: pick up rocks and throw them against a wall, or use the sword to cut bushes. The article also mentions Rupees in the store’s right room and in a small pond beside the store, where diving is needed to retrieve them.
Prepare for the dungeon
Collecting at least eight Blue Rupees will put Link in a position to start his first dungeon, the Great Deku Tree. With the sword and shield, he is equipped for that initial challenge.
