Inside the Zelda Ocarina of Time Remake: Deku Tree Dungeon Guide to Items, Puzzles, and Gohma
Find the First Items
At the Great Deku Tree entrance, Navi offers monster hints, which you can open with the left D-pad. Climb the vine beyond the ground web to reach a chest containing the dungeon map, then pass through the stone door.
Deflect the Deku Scrub’s projectile with your shield, then slash when it emerges. In the next room, jump over broken wood and open the chest for the Fairy Slingshot. Shoot the wall eye to open the way back; bushes provide seeds for ammunition. A small chest near a Skulltula contains three Deku Nuts.
Climb for the Compass
Use the slingshot against Skulltulas as you climb. For the Giant Skulltula, shoot it, then jump and slash its blue weak point while it spins. In the blocked room, step on the button to raise platforms and reach the Compass chest.
A crawlspace behind that chest leads to a secret room with three Deku Nuts. Return to the main hall and climb to the wooden diving board. Jump into the web below to break through to the dungeon’s lower level.
Burn Webs and Find Tokens
On the lower level, press the ground button to burn a web and open a chest with three Deku Sticks. Light a stick and use it to burn the web across the area. A Gold Skulltula is beside the water grate; another is on the large vine climb back up.
Defeat the Deku Scrub with your shield to learn the code, 2, 3, 1. Shoot the eye above the gated door, enter, and dive to press the underwater button. Cross using the platform, then push the block into the middle of the next room and climb up.
Solve Puzzles and Face Gohma
Light all the torches with a Deku Stick. The left room contains a Gold Skulltula; go right, crawl through the hole, and push the block down to make a shortcut. Light the stick from the torch below, return up, and roll into the web.
Use the Scrub order 2, 3, 1: deflect the central Scrub’s shots first, then the one on the right, then the one on the left. After speaking to the first Scrub, enter the next room to face Gohma. Keep your distance until Gohma crawls along the ceiling, then shoot its eye with the slingshot. When it falls, rush in and slash its eye.
