Very Hard to Figure Out: Scarlett Johansson Shares First Comments on Batman Part II Casting, Admits Mystery Role

A challenging mystery role

Johansson said the role gave her “a lot of existential angst,” as she explained in an interview with Entertainment Tonight. She said it was very hard to figure out and difficult to crack.

The 41-year-old Oscar-winning actor was reported to be in final negotiations for a part nearly a year ago. The sequel follows 2022’s The Batman, led by Robert Pattinson.

Character remains unknown

There is still no public word on whom Johansson will play. Online discussion has included guesses such as Andrea Beaumont, also known as The Phantasm, and Poison Ivy. Those suggestions remain speculation; the story does not confirm either character as Johansson’s role.

Filming and release plans

Warner Bros and DC Studios announced last month that filming had been halted for the time being while director Matt Reeves attends to a personal matter. No details about the family matter were released.

The cast also includes Sebastian Stan, Colin Farrell, Andy Serkis and Jeffrey Wright. The Batman Part II is currently scheduled for release in theaters on February 18, 2028.
