After six straight losses, nick foles goes against eagles leaders getting upset over former players’ criticism

Foles challenges team leaders
Foles discussed the issue with Graham, his former Eagles teammate and fellow Super Bowl LII winner, on Graham’s podcast. Asked about former teammates, their conversation turned to how people inside the organization react to outside criticism.
Foles said he and Graham care deeply about Philadelphia and want to speak positively about the team. But after reviewing game footage, he said, they feel compelled to share what they see. Foles argued the people in the building should block out those comments rather than take them personally.
A call for honest discussions
Foles said his earlier comments about dysfunction and a changing team culture had prompted conversations that he described as fruitful. He recalled the Eagles’ blitz meetings with offensive line coach Jeff Stoutland as valuable discussions and said the team could use that kind of problem-solving now.
He said former players have a distinctive perspective from having played for the Eagles. Foles also argued that team staff should make coaches and players aware of media coverage when needed, while athletes should otherwise keep their focus on football.
Philadelphia faces a difficult season
Other changes include Stoutland stepping away in February and All-Pro right tackle Lane Johnson retiring in early October. Foles said he believes Philadelphia can recover if those inside the organization concentrate on their work.
