Dispute Ends as Kellie Pickler Reaches Settlement With Late Husband Kyle Jacobs’ Parents Over Property

Settlement resolves property dispute

Documents obtained by People on Nov. 4 state that Pickler and her in-laws, Reed and Sharon Jacobs, reached a property settlement. The terms are confidential. The documents say the parties “have fully resolved all claims,” according to the court filings. They also said they were “satisfied with the distribution of assets” in Jacobs’ estate.

Items sought by his parents

Jacobs’ parents alleged in May 2024 court documents that Pickler had not turned over some of his belongings. Items they sought included guns, jewelry and musical instruments. A subpoena listed a Japanese samurai sword, a Rolex and Garmin watch, baseball card albums, school awards, seven pistols, a work laptop and an iPhone. Pickler, in turn, said her in-laws entered her home and took personal property after Jacobs died, according to court documents.

Jacobs’ death and career

Jacobs was found dead in February 2023 at the Nashville home he shared with Pickler. The Davidson County Medical Examiner later ruled his death a suicide. He was 49.

A songwriter, Jacobs worked with Garth Brooks and Tim McGraw. An autopsy report cited by Taste of Country said toxicology testing found no drugs in his system and recorded a history of health issues and chronic alcohol use.

Pickler spoke about her grief

Pickler stayed out of the spotlight after her husband’s death. Six months later, she told People that she was following his advice to “do nothing, just be still” during a crisis. The couple began dating in 2008 and married in 2011. They also collaborated on songs, including “One Last Time,” “The Woman I Am” and “Feeling Tonight.”
