Jared McCain Crashes Caleb Foster Photoshoot as Beloved Duke Basketball One-and-Done Teammates Share Warm Words

A reunion at the shoot
McCain, now in his second season with the Oklahoma City Thunder, came to Foster’s photoshoot for a SLAMU digital cover. Foster said the two stay in regular contact. McCain called Foster his brother and said he was excited to see him earn the cover.
Friendship beyond Duke
The recruiting class’s other members departed after their freshman season. McCain turned pro early, while Sean Stewart and TJ Power entered the transfer portal after Duke’s 2023-24 team reached the Elite Eight.
Foster said he attended McCain’s first playoff game last season and was inspired to work harder. He also praised McCain’s brother, Jayce, who serves as his player development coach, and described the McCain family as his own.
Foster’s role and recovery
As a full-time starter last season, Foster averaged 8.3 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game as Duke went 35-3 and reached the Elite Eight. A foot fracture sustained in the regular-season finale against North Carolina kept him out of the ACC Tournament title run and Duke’s first two NCAA Tournament games. He returned for the Sweet 16 win over St. John’s.
A minor ankle injury kept the 22-year-old out of two-thirds of Duke’s preseason exhibition schedule. He has not regained a starting role so far. In Monday’s 84-50 season-opening win over Army, he had four points and one rebound in 20 minutes off the bench, shooting 2-for-6 from the field and 0-for-3 from beyond the arc.
Next game for Duke
Duke is preparing to host Coastal Carolina at Cameron Indoor Stadium on Thursday at 8 p.m. ET, with the game set to air on ACC Network. Foster and the Blue Devils enter the matchup after opening the season with a home win over Army.
