Gainey begins his tenure
The win opened the Justin Gainey Era at NC State. Gainey is the Wolfpack’s third coach in as many seasons, following Kevin Keatts and Will Wade. NC State has won 32 of its last 33 home openers against nonconference opponents, with William & Mary in the 2015-16 opener the only loss in that span. The Wolfpack are 13-1 against Campbell, with every meeting played in Raleigh, and 74-4 in regular-season home games against nonconference teams since 2016-17.
