Julia Stiles Goes Home: Dancing With the Stars Recap of Disney Night

Stiles and Sosa eliminated

Former frontrunner Julia Stiles and her partner, Ezra Sosa, left the competition Monday night. They placed eighth in Season 35. Stiles said the experience had helped her discover parts of herself she had not known were there. Sosa described partnering with her as an “absolute honor.”

Top score brings immunity

Harry Shum Jr. and Jenna Johnson tied with Jenna Dewan and Val Chmerkovskiy for the night’s highest score. Each pair received 40 out of 40. Shum Jr. and Johnson earned immunity in next week’s dance-off because their cumulative season score was one point higher than Dewan and Chmerkovskiy’s.

Disney-inspired performances

The eight remaining couples performed dances inspired by Disney on Broadway. Tony winner and “Wicked” actress Cynthia Erivo joined judges Derek Hough, Carrie Ann Inaba and Bruno Tonioli as a guest judge.

Team dances also returned. The cast split into two groups, each joining one of the co-hosts, Alfonso Ribeiro or Julianne Hough.

Scores from the ballroom

Olympic gold medalist Amber Glenn and Pasha Pashkov opened with a quickstep to “A Star Is Born” from “Hercules.” They portrayed the mythological hero and scored 34 out of 40. Maura Higgins and Mark Ballas performed a jive to “You Can Fly! You Can Fly! You Can Fly” from “Peter Pan.” Higgins played Tinker Bell, while Ballas played Captain Hook; the judges awarded them 32 out of 40.
