Deadspin: Commanders End Long-Awaited Second-Win Drought as Sliding Eagles Pay the Expense

Philadelphia Starts Fast
The Eagles opened with a 10-0 first-quarter lead. Jake Elliott connected from 40 yards, then Saquon Barkley scored on a 3-yard run after a fumble by Chig Okonkwo.
Washington responded with a 56-yard Stevens field goal. Daniels then found Stefon Diggs for an 8-yard touchdown to finish an 11-play, 89-yard drive, and another Stevens kick put the Commanders ahead 13-10 at halftime.
Washington Builds Its Lead
A fumble by Philadelphia quarterback Tanner McKee set up Washington’s only points of the third quarter. Daniels completed a 53-yard pass to Treylon Burks, and Stevens kicked a 25-yard field goal to make it 16-10.
The Eagles moved into field-goal range in the fourth quarter, but Elliott’s 41-yard attempt struck the left upright with 8:58 remaining. It was his first missed kick of the season.
Late Scores Seal Victory
Stevens added a 42-yard field goal with 3:43 left, extending Washington’s advantage to 19-10. The Commanders later added a 1-yard touchdown run by Rachaad White and a two-point conversion run by Austin Ekeler.
Daniels finished 16 of 29 passing for 217 yards and a touchdown. McKee, making his first career road start, threw for 212 yards but was sacked five times, lost a fumble and threw an interception.
Division Picture Shifts
The victory moved Washington to 2-4-1 and completed a split of the season series; Philadelphia won 24-22 in Week 1. The Commanders gained ground on the idle New York Giants, who were 4-2-1.
Philadelphia fell to 2-6 and last place in the NFC East. Its six consecutive defeats mark the team’s longest skid since 2012.
