Here: major Hollywood blockbusters, exciting projects, every upcoming Jennifer Lawrence movie—and no TV show to look forward

A return to The Hunger Games

Lawrence is set to reprise Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping, which is scheduled to reach theaters on November 20, 2026. The prequel adapts Suzanne Collins’ 2025 novel and is set 24 years before the original Hunger Games.

The story follows 16-year-old Haymitch Abernathy, played by Joseph Zada, as he enters the 50th Hunger Games, also known as the Second Quarter Quell. Josh Hutcherson is also listed as returning as Peeta. The novel’s epilogue brings Katniss, Peeta and Haymitch together after the rebellion.

A disturbing space thriller

Lawrence will star in The Flood, a science-fiction thriller written and directed by Zach Cregger, whose credits include Barbarian and Weapons. Amblin Entertainment, founded by Steven Spielberg, is producing the film, scheduled for release on August 11, 2028.

Cregger said the idea began when he watched Ad Astra with his wife, actress Sara Paxton, and considered the prospect of being trapped in space. He has also cited 2001: A Space Odyssey as an influence. The plot has not been revealed, though Cregger described the movie as potentially his most disturbing yet.

Scorsese adapts a novel

The couple stays in a nearly empty hotel, where encounters with a mysterious faith healer and other visitors add to the unsettling atmosphere. Mads Mikkelsen, Patricia Clarkson and Jared Harris are also set to appear; the article says Charlie XCX is reportedly making a cameo.

A busy stretch ahead

Lawrence stepped away from acting for a time after Dark Phoenix in 2019, then returned with Don’t Look Up in 2021 and Causeway in 2022. She later appeared in No Hard Feelings and Die My Love, the latter opposite Robert Pattinson.

With several movies lined up for 2027 and beyond, the article describes a potentially busy period for the actress. It names upcoming film projects but does not identify a forthcoming TV show.
