After 44 Years, Brewers Win First World Series; Jeter, Papi Laud What Makes These Champs Special

A dominant October run

Milwaukee’s postseason record was 11-2. The Brewers defeated the Padres in the NLDS, then swept the Dodgers in the NLCS before winning the World Series. The title followed a 103-win regular season, the best mark in MLB, and the club’s fourth consecutive NL Central crown. The championship was the franchise’s first, 44 years in the making.

Jeter praises situational play

Derek Jeter said the Brewers had become one of the strongest overall teams seen in a long time. He pointed to their situational baseball in an era when many teams prioritize home runs and accept strikeouts.

David Ortiz also credited Milwaukee’s approach at the plate and its ability to sustain pressure. Ortiz said the team moved runners, reached base and ran effectively, while also bringing strong defense and pitching.

Depth delivers the title

The Brewers’ success came from a group of capable players rather than one dominant star. Pat Murphy, whom Ortiz described as an old-school manager, led the team through its season and postseason run.

Pitcher Jacob Misiorowski worked 5.2 innings in Game 5 before leaving with an apparent cramp. He was described as a likely NL Cy Young award winner.

Contreras shines in Series

William Contreras was named World Series MVP after hitting .381 and going 8-for-21. He also made an impact behind the plate, throwing out four runners attempting to steal.

Contreras won 10 Automated Ball-Strike challenges during the series. Alex Rodriguez said Milwaukee’s by-the-book baseball helped create a memorable path to the franchise’s first championship.
