A Hidden Figure in VisionQuest Has Fans Spotting a Possible Return for a Major Marvel Character, TVLine

A figure in the background
In Episode 6, released October 27, Vision travels to Madripoor to rescue his son, Thomas Shepherd, from Paladin, a bounty hunter. Raza Hamidmi al-Wazar, a villain from Iron Man, interrupts the confrontation, saying he has come to capture Vision.
The mysterious client who hired the two bounty hunters then takes control of the area’s technological devices. As the camera focuses on a television showing the client, bright eyes and a faint head shape appear behind it. Fans believe the shape could be Uatu the Watcher.
Winderbaum shares the scene
Brad Winderbaum, who leads Marvel’s TV department, reshared the scene on Instagram with an eye emoji caption. The post may support fans’ theory, but it does not establish that Uatu is in VisionQuest.
Uatu was introduced in the first season of the animated What If as a being who watches important events across the multiverse. The series later showed him intervening, despite the Watchers’ oath against doing so.
A pattern across Marvel shows
The Watchers first appeared in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 as a background cameo. Uatu, voiced by Jeffrey Wright, narrated What If, observing events that diverged from the main MCU timeline.
Uatu has also appeared in the background of X-Men '97, Marvel Zombies, Eyes of Wakanda and Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man. In April 2026, he appeared in live action in Daredevil: Born Again, when his familiar outline was visible in a windowsill after Bullseye smashed through a window.
An Easter egg or a tease?
Winderbaum shared an image of the Daredevil: Born Again scene on Instagram with the caption “always watching...” His posts have helped draw attention to the recurring background appearances. It remains unclear whether the VisionQuest image signals another Uatu story or is simply an Easter egg. The episode also revealed that Jocasta, its main antagonist, commands robots capable of reprogramming any human.
