Jenny McCarthy says mold poisoning diagnosis left her too paranoid for home, now living in tent during detox

Why She Chose a Tent

McCarthy described her tent arrangement during an Oct. 29 episode of her podcast. She said she feels paranoid about sleeping in other places and showed a video of a tan tent in her backyard.

The tent had a rainproof cover, which she said helps protect against “chemtrails” and sprinklers. She referred to rain in California, where the residence appears to be located.

Symptoms and Diagnosis

McCarthy said she was in month seven of mold detox. She described feeling overwhelmed and said she was still experiencing what she called the traumatic part of the process.

She said a doctor diagnosed her with mycotoxin poisoning in December 2025. McCarthy described a recurring infected root canal that caused the left side of her face to swell, along with chalazions, painful eye surgeries, skin rashes and food allergies.

She also said she developed SIBO, or Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth, and claimed that eating caused her stomach to swell. She said she was put on vitamins and supplements after the diagnosis.

Home Work and Costs

McCarthy said a specialist carried out mold remediation throughout her house, at a cost of tens of thousands of dollars. She said contractors then had to rebuild parts of the home.

She also described being told to dispose of furniture and clothing. The podcast episode came weeks after McCarthy and her husband, Donnie Wahlberg, listed their Illinois home for $2.8 million in September.
