Foot Injury Puts Carson Kolb Out as Oklahoma State Designates Him Unavailable for Iowa State Game

Kolb ruled out after injury
Oklahoma State’s first player availability report, released Wednesday, lists Carson Kolb as out for Saturday’s matchup with Iowa State. The former Oregon State transfer took over as the starting tight end after fall workouts and quickly adjusted to the offense, according to head coach Eric Morris.
Kolb hurt his left foot during Saturday’s game against Colorado. After the game, he was seen wearing a walking boot and using crutches. Morris has not disclosed the injury’s severity or type.
Options at tight end
Morgan McPhaul is listed alongside Kolb as an “OR” choice for the starting tight end spot. Oscar Hammond, Donovan Green and Boydie Boydston are also listed behind them.
Kolb has seven catches for 58 yards and two touchdowns, all the first receptions of his college career. McPhaul has three catches, including a touchdown, and has also scored on a rush; Hammond and Green have one catch apiece.
Hammonds listed as questionable
Safety Quinton Hammonds is questionable after leaving the Colorado game. He was seen on the sideline after the game with one arm in a sling. Morris said Tuesday he hoped either Green or Hammonds would be available Saturday. Bobby Deal Jr. and Markeith Williams are listed as backups behind Hammonds.
Two more players questionable
Wide receiver Dayvon Standard and defensive tackle Landon Dean are also listed as questionable. Standard was available for last weekend’s game, while Dean has been listed as out on the availability report for the past two games.
