Deadspin: Jonathan Bond stops 6 shots as Dynamo shut out Sounders 1-0

Halter’s header decides match
Houston’s only shot on target became the winning goal. In the 26th minute, Lucas Halter headed in a corner from Mateusz Bogusz that bounced into the middle of the box.
Bond holds off Seattle pressure
Jonathan Bond recorded his 12th clean sheet of the season, making six saves. In the 41st minute, he made two stops in quick succession, including a dive to deny Albert Rusnak’s shot toward the lower-left corner.
Bond also stopped a Dejan Joveljic header in the 45th minute. His final major save came in second-half stoppage time, when he turned away Paul Arriola’s header in the box.
Playoff positions remain tight
Houston improved to 14-9-9 with 51 points, ending the night fourth in the Western Conference, level on points with third-place St. Louis City. The Dynamo had begun the evening fifth and were seeking to improve their playoff standing.
Seattle fell to 11-11-10 with 43 points and eighth place in the West. It sat one point ahead of Real Salt Lake and two ahead of 10th-place Los Angeles Galaxy; the eighth- and ninth-place teams are set to meet in a wild-card matchup.
Seattle faces suspension setback
The Sounders will be without Peter Kingston for Sunday’s match at Western Conference leader Vancouver. Kingston received a yellow card in the 65th minute, triggering a one-match suspension for card accumulation.
Houston defended deep for much of the closing 15 minutes as Seattle sought an equalizer. Despite Seattle’s advantages in possession and shots, the Dynamo kept their shape and Bond covered the few defensive lapses.
