netflix movie brings alien back to earth 20 years later with a dangerous secret
A long-awaited reunion
Petey, played by T.J. Power, is struggling with adulthood when he tries to contact Allen, the alien who vanished during his childhood. He watches old tapes of their adventures and tells his family that the best thing in his life has already happened.
After Petey calls out to the sky, Allen arrives in a glowing spaceship. Their reunion begins with amusement park games and junk food, but the trailer soon shifts toward a darker tone.
The secret remains unknown
The footage shows Petey collapsing, photos of the friends burning, and a blinding light filling the sky. Allen says, “Allen ruin Peedee's life,” while Petey asks how Allen could do this to him.
The trailer does not explain Allen’s secret. It suggests the revelation could have serious consequences, but the nature of the secret—and whether it points to an alien invasion—remains unclear.
Cast and production details
Allen is produced by Ludo Studio, an Australian company known for Bluey, and is set in Queensland. The film was co-directed by Jeffrey Walker and Daley Pearson, who wrote the screenplay with Sophie Miller.
Charlotte Nicdao plays Carly, with Emily Barclay as Sarah, Benedict Hardie as Rory, and Josh Helman as Jaden. Allen’s design differs from E.T. and has been compared with the alien in Paul and Dobby from the Harry Potter films.
