Aston Martin Valhalla: F1-Inspired Hypercar Could Make Drivers Feel Like Fernando Alonso

Hybrid power and performance

A Mercedes-AMG-sourced, twin-turbo 4.0-liter V-8 is paired with three electric motors. Two motors drive the front wheels, while the third is built into the eight-speed dual-clutch transmission; combined output is 1,064 horsepower.

The car sends power to all four wheels and uses an electronically controlled limited-slip rear differential. Aston Martin claims a 0-to-62-mph time of 2.5 seconds, but the article says independent testing has not yet been conducted and expects the car may be quicker.

Cabin displays and driver aids

A digital display ahead of the steering wheel changes its information by driving mode, showing a linear tachometer in Race mode and speed and navigation details on the road. A central 10.3-inch touchscreen runs bespoke software and supports wireless Apple CarPlay.

The Valhalla includes automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning and adaptive cruise control. Conventional side mirrors are supplemented by a camera-based rearview display inside the cabin.

Limited production and efficiency

Aston Martin will build only 999 Valhallas, and the car has no storage space. Its attention-grabbing presence may also bring notice from passers-by. Estimated fuel economy is 16 mpg combined, 17 mpg city and 15 mpg highway; the combined gas-and-electric estimate is 32 MPGe. Estimated electric range is six miles, and the estimated curb weight is 4,000 pounds.
