Leaked Mass Effect 5 Trailer Reveals a Basically James Bond Adventure in Space
A glimpse of the canceled game
Reddit user Random_Hyabusa_Ninja shared the footage, then posted it separately on the Mass Effect subreddit at moderators’ request. Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier confirmed the trailer is authentic.
A spy-like story in space
The roughly two-minute clip focuses on a human ex-soldier speaking with an asari in a bar. Their conversation grows increasingly charged, while brief action scenes suggest danger remains part of his life after military service.
Flirtation, hidden intentions and the protagonist’s violent past give the footage a James Bond-like quality. The trailer offers a glimpse of the game’s direction, but development has ended.
Why the series matters
Mass Effect has drawn players into a universe of complicated alien characters, dangerous missions and choices with consequences. The appeal includes building a crew and deciding which companions to romance, alongside the larger task of saving the galaxy.
With the next game canceled, the trailer offers fans a look at a continuation they had been waiting years to see. It had been teased in 2020, but will not be completed.
