Samsung Has Already Found the Next Way to Unfold a Phone

A new name in the lineup

Anthony, a Samsung tipster known as @TheGalox_ on X, has leaked what appears to be the company’s 2027 foldable lineup. The list reportedly includes the Galaxy Z Slide alongside familiar models.

How a slide phone works

The Z Slide concept uses a rollable display that expands sideways, revealing more screen from one or both sides. It has been discussed for years, though the article describes it as a concept rather than a product available to buy.

Samsung applied to trademark the Z Slide name in 2021. That same year, its display affiliate showed a horizontally expanding phone-sized screen. At CES 2025, Samsung displayed slideable designs, including one that grows from 5.1 inches to 6.7 inches when pulled.

Timing remains unclear

The reported 2027 lineup would therefore conflict with that stated target. The leak has not been confirmed, and the article cautions that rumors may not prove accurate.

A possible retail debut

Brands such as Oppo have shown phones of this kind as prototypes. If the leak is credible, the Z Slide could be the first such device to reach mainstream retail shelves, though that remains uncertain.

The possible launch would come as Samsung continues expanding its foldable range. The article also notes that 2027 would be only the second generation of Samsung’s latest unusual form factor, the TriFold.
