The Matic is the first robovac to get an FCC ban waiver, not that it needs it

The Federal Communications Commission has placed Matic’s robot vacuum and charging dock on a list of products exempted from a ban. The decision covers vacuum model 4MA0001 and dock model 4DK0008.
The listing allows the devices to be approved for import, marketing and sale. But the products’ radio components had already received FCC approval, so the waiver does not appear necessary for these models.
Matic uses an Intel Wi-Fi and Bluetooth module with its own FCC approval, rather than seeking approval for the complete robot. The company also assembles its robots in Mountain View, California.
The waiver applies only to those two specific models, not to Matic products generally. If the company later made new devices abroad for US import, this decision would not automatically cover them.

- The FCC waiver covers Matic vacuum model 4MA0001 and dock model 4DK0008.
- Their radio components were approved before the waiver was added.
- Matic assembles its robots in Mountain View, California; the waiver is model-specific.
