Steps

  1. Unplug whatever sits in the dead outlet, and unplug devices on other outlets that went dead with it.

  2. Find the outlet that has Test and Reset buttons. It may be in that room, or in a bathroom, garage, kitchen, or porch that feeds the others.

  3. Press Reset firmly until it clicks and stays in. Plug in the lamp and see if it lights.

  4. Press Test. The lamp should go out with a click. Press Reset again so the outlet is back on and still protecting the circuit.

  5. Plug the original device back in. If the button pops straight out, unplug the device and leave Reset unpressed.
