Briton Caroline Dubois dreams of undisputed status, targeting Alycia Baumgardner or Turhan after Han fight

A major fight in prospect

Baumgardner called Dubois a puppy when they exchanged words in Miami last year. Dubois says she believes the remark is talk, while also expressing respect for Baumgardner's work to build her name in a sport where women do not always receive the money, attention or promotion they deserve.

Both fighters, Dubois says, want to be paid properly. She hopes their fight can headline at London's O2 Arena, near where she grew up, recalling the atmosphere when Shields fought Marshall there in 2022.

The goal of becoming undisputed

Dubois says becoming undisputed world champion has been her ambition since she first put on gloves. She argues that women's champions can face pressure to become undisputed and then move up in weight before receiving recognition.

She believes a fight with Baumgardner could help establish its winner as the next face of women's boxing. Dubois says she is determined to be that person.

Turhan poses a threat

Baumgardner first has to get past Turhan, who challenges for the IBF lightweight title on Sunday, 8 November. Dubois says a Turhan victory would not end her rivalry with Baumgardner, but her own ambition would lead her to pursue the winner.

Dubois describes Turhan as powerful, aggressive and especially dangerous early in a fight. She thinks Turhan could knock Baumgardner out if she lands early, but says Baumgardner could make the contest difficult by using her jab, making Turhan miss and turning her.

Dubois considers Baumgardner the better technical boxer and expects her to take control if she gets through the early rounds. Dubois also has a fight of her own against Han to complete before either potential matchup can happen.
