Fan-voted Xenolhu is officially bringing a brand-new kaiju to Godzilla’s live-action screen in 2027 or later

Eight designs entered the vote
Toho launched its New Monster General Election in September, presenting eight original creature designs created by Shirogumi. The visual effects studio also worked on Godzilla Minus One. Fans voted in two rounds. The first narrowed the choices to four, and a fresh vote among those finalists determined the winner.
Xenolhu takes the top spot
Toho announced the result at Godzilla Fest on November 3. Xenolhu, described officially as a “Dimensional Entity,” will become Godzilla’s next challenger. Xenolhu received 16,850 votes in the final round. Sagius, a drone carrier machine, finished second with 14,649.
Live-action debut planned for 2027
The winning creature earned a place opposite Godzilla in a future Fest Godzilla short, as well as a merchandise rollout. Its live-action debut is planned for a new Fest Godzilla production in 2027 or later.
The election introduced fans to monsters they had not previously seen fight Godzilla. The winning design will now join the franchise in an upcoming production.
