WWE Crown Jewel loss: Sami Zayn leaves with Roman Reigns’ recognition as Reigns claims championship
A loss, followed by recognition
Zayn asked Reigns to shake his hand after their match. Reigns instead pulled him into a hug, making clear that he regarded Zayn as more than an honorary member of The Bloodline.
“You’re not honorary. You’re an Uso,” Reigns said. The gesture connected to their history, which began when Zayn joined the group as an honorary Uce.
Zayn’s search for respect
Zayn has said for months that he wanted greater respect from Reigns, the WWE Universe and the SmackDown locker room. He felt his years of work had not earned him the recognition he deserved.
He said he had not received that respect when he became undisputed WWE champion for the first time, or when he won it again. His earlier title victory came at Night of Champions in Saudi Arabia.
Reigns wins in Riyadh
The Saudi crowd backed Zayn, who tried to get inside Reigns’ head during the match. Reigns stayed composed, hit a spear and pinned Zayn to secure the victory.
Reigns added the Crown Jewel Championship and ring to a record that includes seven world titles. He has also held the Intercontinental, United States and Tag Team championships, and won the Royal Rumble twice, including earlier this year.
The next challenge awaits
Reigns will face competitors in the United States when he returns. The article describes the 946 as a tougher threat than Zayn, though it gives no further details about the group.
Cruz Montana joined the faction this past week on Monday Night Raw. Led by Royce Keys, the group has been among the few to get the better of Reigns and The Bloodline; Survivor Series: WarGames is next on the schedule.
