Robert Pattinson Screen Tested to Play 007 as James Bond Surprise Adds Intrigue

Pattinson joins Bond contenders
Robert Pattinson, 40, has screen tested for the role of James Bond, multiple sources told The Hollywood Reporter. Callum Turner, Jack Lowden and Josh O’Connor have also tested, and Nicholas Hoult is now being mentioned as another possible contender.
The tests reportedly took place the weekend of Oct. 24. Earlier reporting said four, possibly five, actors were being considered, though only three names had surfaced then.
A high-profile possibility
Pattinson is already widely recognized and leads DC Studios’ Batman franchise, making him an unexpected candidate under conventional expectations for the next Bond. He is currently filming The Batman Part II in London, where the tests have been held.
Franchise enters new era
Pattinson’s connection to the Harry Potter films began with a role in 2005’s Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. He later became globally known through Twilight.
A role left by Craig
The casting process comes more than 20 years after Daniel Craig was chosen as Bond in October 2005. Craig left the role after five films, ending with 2021’s No Time to Die. His run included Skyfall, released in 2012, which became the franchise’s first and only film to earn $1 billion.
