A Rare Comment: Bill Hader Reveals Hilariously Sweet Milestone With Daughters After The Cat in the Hat Premiere

Daughters Praise His New Film

Hader told E! News that Hannah, 17, Harper, 14, and Hayley, 11, attended the premiere of The Cat in the Hat. He said they liked the movie and praised his performance.

“Proud of you, Dad. It was good,” Hader recalled his daughters telling him. He shares them with his ex-wife, Maggie Carey, and joked that their approval marked a major moment between them.

A Joke About Blue Eyes

Hader said his daughters’ response prompted a playful realization. “Oh my gosh, you guys have blue eyes! I forgot,” he joked. The actor voices the red-and-white-striped, anthropomorphic cat. But his daughters were more eager to meet Gomez than to celebrate his role, Hader said.

Gomez Earned Their Excitement

Hader said his daughters were especially excited to meet Xochitl Gomez, who won the Dancing With the Stars Mirrorball Trophy in 2023. Gomez described their praise as “the biggest compliment.” The film also reunited Hader with longtime collaborators Erica Rivinoja and Alessandro Carloni. He said voicing the Dr. Seuss character alongside friends made him feel honored.

Film Set for November Release

The Cat in the Hat is scheduled to reach theaters Nov. 6. Hader said the chance to play the iconic character was a significant opportunity. He said he had worked with Rivinoja and Carloni on other projects and had known Rivinoja for years. The experience, he added, was especially enjoyable because he got to work with them again.
