Lamar Jackson's thumb injury has Ravens reportedly acquiring Jacoby Brissett from Cardinals amid QB woes

Jackson injury prompts quarterback search

The Ravens are considering a move for Brissett after Jackson’s thumb injury raised the possibility that the starter could miss the rest of the season. Baltimore is 4-4 and scheduled to host the 5-2 Jacksonville Jaguars on Thursday night.

Fagnano, an undrafted rookie, is expected to start. After news of the Brissett pursuit emerged, DraftKings Sportsbook listed Baltimore as a 10-point home underdog against Jacksonville.

Brissett could debut in Week 10

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that a trade would not be completed in time for Brissett to play Thursday. If the deal goes through, Brissett is expected to make his debut in Week 10 against the Los Angeles Chargers on Monday Night Football.

The Chargers are 0-7 and scheduled to host the 2-5 Houston Texans this Sunday. As of Wednesday afternoon, it was not known what Baltimore would send Arizona in exchange for Brissett.

Other quarterback options considered

Earlier Wednesday, Baltimore was believed to be considering Chicago Bears backup Tyson Bagent or Indianapolis Colts starter Daniel Jones instead. Schefter pointed to Ravens quarterbacks coach Israel Woolfork’s previous work with Brissett in Arizona and their time together with the Cleveland Browns in 2022.

The developments suggest Baltimore is not giving up on the season before the Nov. 10 trade deadline. At the same time, the team does not appear poised to be a major buyer before the deadline next Tuesday.
