India: Several Feared Trapped as Building Collapses in Delhi’s Chawri Bazar
Collapse in crowded market
The three-story building was under construction when it collapsed in Gali Sitara, near Chawri Bazaar Metro station. Local media reported that two people died and a third was pulled out injured.
Alerts first came around 10 a.m. local time, and six fire units were dispatched. The number of people inside the building was not initially known. The accident occurred in a busy wholesale market during the festive shopping rush. It came two months after a building collapse in the crowded Satya Niketan area, which killed seven people.
Telangana rescuers found safe
Officials said all 11 people reported missing after two rescue boats overturned in a flooded lake in Telangana’s Khammam district were found safe on Thursday. Those rescued included State Disaster Response Force personnel, fire services members and a local resident.
