A 2030 Arrival Looks Likely: Fallout 5 Release Date Outlook Officially Confirms What Fans Suspected

Elder Scrolls VI remains distant

Bethesda recently shared a brief update on The Elder Scrolls VI, confirming its long-rumored subtitle, Sentinel, and a return to Hammerfell. A one-minute teaser showed what appeared to be Alik’r desert dunes and an Elder Scroll sealed with a blue jewel.

The studio did not show gameplay. A Bloomberg journalist wrote on BlueSky that the game is still more than two years away, as reported by PushSquare. The journalist also noted the game was announced in 2018 alongside Starfield, partly to reassure fans seeking single-player titles after Fallout 76.

Fallout fans face a longer wait

Because Bethesda plans to release The Elder Scrolls VI first, Fallout 5 is expected to be further off. Fallout 4 came out in 2015, and the article says Bethesda has yet to offer clues about the next entry.

Production on Fallout 5 reportedly gained momentum only at the beginning of the year. Given that timing, a release before 2030 would be a major surprise.

Possible ways to fill the gap

Xbox head Asha Sharma has renewed the priority given to Fallout. That could bring additional funding and potentially help the game reach players sooner, though no release date was announced.

Remakes of Fallout 3 and New Vegas could arrive earlier than Fallout 5 and give fans something new to play. The Prime Video adaptation has also provided new Fallout stories, but it does not replace a new game for players awaiting one.
